SEBASTIANO SALGADO

Salgado was initially trained as an economist, earning a master’s degree in economics from the University of São Paulo in Brazil. He began to work as an economist for the International Coffee Organization, often traveling to Africa, where he first started taking photographs seriously. He chose to abandon a career as an economist and switched to photography in 1973. He initially worked on news assignments, before veering more towards documentary-type work, particularly social documentaries of workers in less developed nations.
His black and white portraits are of a supreme level. The persons he captures are real, with real emotions. He is considered one of the most important photographers of the 20th century, and so he is in my opninion!
